hello whirled
I've switched from Transmit to Filezilla . I was a loyal Transmit user for many years but I've run into some problems and their tech support has been slow to help. So I started using FileZilla for MacOS and I actually like it better. Transmit has so many features I'll never need. Kind of sorry I upgraded but I'll keep working with them. It could be something I'm doing.
Another old time favorite. I started using BBEdit from Bare Bones Software back in the early 1990s. It wasn't the first text editor but it's been under continuous development and improvement. It's reasonably priced and even though it's grow well beyond my needs, it's still very useful for me. It's gone through various versions, freeware, TextWrangler, App Store and direct. They've settled on a direct model with a 30 day trial that disables advanced features but keeps working in the basic mode. I could probably get by with the free mode but I like the html tools and I think I should pay for the work of others. My last update cost less than $50 - less than a good lunch for two.

The Monterey Peninsula Country Club (MPCC) has two private courses; the Shore Course and the Dunes Course. We are fortunate enough to live right in the middle of them. Since we moved here in 1995 both courses have been completely revised. The first hole of the Shore Course is right across the street from us and the course winds to the south, then back up the hill to the clubhouse. The Dunes Course is to the north of us and it's signature hole is on the ocean side of 17 mile drive, with the tee among the rocks of Point Joe with the hole out near the water. The Dunes course has been redone twice since we've been here, the last brining in more 'dunes' of sand, reducing the amount of greens to keep watered. On the hole shown above, the club planted a mature Monterey Cypress.
This has had mixed results for the club. It's signature hole now has a cypress with the ocean behind it. The problem is that many tourists believe this is "The Lone Cypress" of the Pebble Beach Company and they stop to take pictures. Trespassing tourists have become such a problem for the golfers that MPPC has put a split rail fence around the course boundies with signs notifying people that this is private property and the actual Lone Cypress is 5 miles on down the drive.
